Dead Space is a) not scary, b) nowhere near as good as the reviews might suggest and b) actually quite a dull slog to the finish after the first few levels.

Discuss.

It is scary in the beginning, but you do get used to enemies after a while I still hate the babies, they are really evil (and scary).

The gameplay is pretty awesome and by that I mean the shooting of the aliens.

The story is allright IF you read the animated webcomics and the movie before playing the game.

The main character don't talk which is dull.
The similar enemies does drag it down a bit, but it might also be because I completed the game in one night..

It's really intense when you have hordes of enemies coming against you, you really feel the adrenalin (and sweat) coming. Assuming you not playing on easy or something silly.

So, I think it was a decent game. Better than Doom 3 anyway, IMO

Yea I really enjoyed Dead Space too, even though I seriously DON'T like the 3rd person view. As Griz said you feel the adrenaline when hordes of enemies/big monsters come after you.

It's true that it dulls down later on, because it's like.. get on the tram -> get out -> go find something -> get back to the tram. There should be some different kids of missions in between to spice it up, but they didn't add any...

Oh well, I still played like 11 chapters of it, taking a break from it now since it got boring, but I liked the game overall.

I think dead space is a trail run thing

Essentially the movie and such were far better than the actual game.

The game itself could have been SO much more...

Id rather have the movie made into a prequal, that would be a decent game

get l4d instead. Its worth the cost purely for the rush the first time you get attacked by a horde...

It had some interesting ideas in it, but most of them you can see in the first hour and a half of game play. (which is a little under what I've played so far). It does seem to be a typical "jumpy" horror game.

Just played the new F.E.A.R. 2 demo on my PC (with a 768mb 8800GTX) and must say i was VERY impressed with the visuals. Not having played Dead Space - if you don't like that you may want to consider this. Very 'Doom 3' (and more).

Fear 1 was awesome, and indeed the Fear 2 demo looked great too. Will def get the game when it comes out.

Dont ever compare FEAR to the sh*te thatw as doom 3 =/

F.E.A.R at least tried.

Doom 3 was ENTIRELY dark rooms and jumping out. Eventually you just got immune and no matter what jumped out you could shoot it.

F.E.A.R managed to scare me to the very end....

I never did find that guy locked in the cuboard >_<
