i finally got hl2 and css.

ok css, it plays ok considering my system but the only problem i have found is i cant alt-tab out. usually i can get out into windows but i cant get back in to the game, i just get a black screen with mouse cursor.

although it does seem to work if i have just started the game and havent joined a server yet. but if i play it then disconnect and go back to the main screen, it wont alt-tab out then back in.

its geh.

I get a blank screen after alt-tabbing back in, but it lasts no longer than 15 seconds.
Are you waiting long enough?

turn everything and i mean everything down to minimum, it runs fine then, also still looks better than the old cs in places, played the new map tides, and got a score of 35-6 and that was the first time i played it

next map was prodigy, lol 18-0 in 4 rounds, i can not believe just how many noobs there are out there on this game at the minute, go into any server and i can guarentee i will finish in the top  4 players on the server,

i will admit it takes osme getting used to but be patient, you will adapt in about 3 days of random play, and then you can just own the noobs, its like the early days of the big release of v1 of cs

will my graphics settings be affecting my ping?

currently using 1024 with mostly low settings, just whatever it recommended. it looks nice but its going to take some getting used to.

nah im saying for me i have to turn the settings dowm, but then you coould buy my graphics card in a car boot sale for a £7 note! its that dodgy and old, therefore to get any kind of fps i have to have everything on minimum, your gcard should nail the sucker!

hmmmmmm im hoping i can afford to sort it all out by easter.

once ive got this terms debts paid i shall assess the overdraft situation.

im a little more content with what ive got now that hl2 and css are running on it though, dont really have time for games other than those and 1.6.

altho i still fancy a 6600GT Pci:e, athlon 64 3200, 2x512mb setup sorta thing

yeah but you would not expect to get more FPS then 1.6 because CS:S is much more intesive then 1.6.

There is also a lot of know problems with it, I think the net code is buggy.

What you can try is this command:

cl_smooth 0

also try turning off "hardware sound" or so I have heard.

smooth doesnt seem to do anything for me, and not heard the sound issue, i am simply playing it and the worst thing about it is not the lag it is the reg, it is so far out on some things that it is stupid, and it isnt server related, it could be the age old rate issue but if you ask me, the hitboxes and the reg are crap and it needs fixing

the reg is poo and the way your weapon moves when you fire is v off putting. 1.6 was just right...
