It would be good to make the background for the forum posts in black to match the website background and have like Matt Balck outer with the inner post boxes a matt grey and a nice silver and red outlined outsides of the forum boxes.....
That way it would not be so bad on my eyesight seeing as though i have an problem with my eyesight due to meningitis and it make me have photophobia which is a light sensitive reaction to my eyesight........
It would also make it easier for all of us to read and would look very cool..........
I like the black and silver and red theme and would like to see it all thru the website and forums........

And the rest is bloody wicked and top effort for that.....
so well done all the rest is fantastic.........

but when it said make the background matt black i thought it meant a guy, some kind of super model that you wanted splattered all over the background

We originally had the forums in black, with the same colour scheme as the main page, but it proved difficult to read and people asked that it be changed. This is a phpbb skin which is specificaly designed to be easy to read... what do other people think?

Make the text white how could that be hard to read it would make it easier adn would save on eyestrain.....
even artists make designs on black borders because it makes the rest stand out ......... also my eyes are also mashed by the white before i play on BF2142 and makes it hard for me to play could we just settle on a more toned down colour if possible........

I think you should be able to install a number of styles and allow the users to set which style they want from there profile.

I like the forum the way it is, but it would be good to have options.

The thing is this is a highly modded version of a very old forum (5 yrs old now) so any changes have to be made manually by me, by hacking up the original code. Its very laborious... not so simple as a carbon copy pre-made portal like most clans have.

I don't want to cause any problems by mentioning what i did its just that i have eye sight problems and i know that balck is easier on the eye for me and i was just thinking about how to make it easier on everybody elses eyes.....
I would be happy to maybe see the background black on the outside if that can be done and leave the rest white if you can do that cause the glare is too much for me.......
or if you could do the select colour sheme option that would be cool so we could have a choice of just plain colours not big themes just plain colours like balck red silver and opaque grey.........
if you could do that that would be great..........

how about taking the old code that you have for the black version forum and making an option that can swith it to that in the coding.............

it doesnt quite work like that, if you replace the background colour, you have to re-skin all your buttons too. Its fankly a massive job, I dont mind hacking up a simple solution but I can tell you now it wont look great cos I'm not gonna replace the code for every button to be looked up from a table (that would be like rewriting half the code in the forum).

The other solution is to use firefox and grease monkey and write some java script that will change the colours of the forum.

quick fix just change the outer white background to a darker colour, maybe gray ?

Ok, I've hacked together a replacement black skin (including updated buttons). You choice is held in a session cookie so each time you visit the site or your session is left to time out, you will need to change to black (im not messing with the database right now). Simply click the "invert colours" button at the top of the page to switch from white to black and back again...
