gfx/monitor probs

right lads, i know im a techie but im stumped. new monitor runs at 1600 x 1200 @ 75

i had cs running at this fine not a prob, then last night... i went to play and it keeps saying "this is not supported will run in software mode.." how ever it wont run in software mode either i need to restart every time i want to play cs... and even then it sometimes does the same.

any ideas?

I had a similar problem a few years back. Every now and again my pc would say that my gfx card did not support openGl, which it blatently did.

I dicovered that it was because I installed some software (MATLAB) which f**ked up some openGl .dll's. I tryed everything, but there was no way to undo the f**kup, so I had to reinstall EVERYTHING.

Have you installed anything new on your system in the past few days/weeks that might use any gfx dll's or anything?

get yourself the latest opengl updates... should fix it.

nahh, that didn't fix my problem. Tryed everything from new drivers to new (different i.e. non geforce) gfx cards. Nothing worked. It wasn't just half life that was affected either.

Mojo had to uninstalled the program (in this case matlab) and rebuild his machine, I think. not 100% sure about the rebuild but matlab went.

yeah, rebuild. pain in the ass too, i had to install matlab again for my dissertation, which f**ked things up agin
