Was very tempted by an android tablet but I think I'm going to wait for the Win8 tablets.

But the prime does look very very nice.

you use it for showing off.

Oh yea and of course some browsing without having to get that massive laptop/going on your desktop. and gaming... basically a mini laptop with a detachable keyboard.

Nice one though, I would get a tablet but I don't see any use of it other then being a gadget. Since basically my laptop is always under my reach and I need to run windows programs.

Quite a few things actually! :)

As an android device, the battery life on my tablet blows away any laptop OS, even on an ultrabook or similar. The TF201 has a 9 hr battery life, and 18 hrs with the dock attached (based on watching video, if find that surfing etc, it lasts even longer!). Even on standby, the tab resumes instantaneously (takes seconds to mins on win 7 and xp laptops) and uses less % battery when not in use than my laptops on standby (if wireless is disabled).

The apps available for android are superb, such as remote control for my new WD Live HD box under my telly, Logitech Squeezebox remote (nicer than the web interface), xbmc remote, kindle (I use in portrait mode), soundhound, etc, along with all the usuals, which I rather like the mobile interfaces for (e.g. fb, twitter, imdb, trainline...

The interface (and touch screen) are very easy to use, particularly for my 23 month old daughter, who cant yet use a mouse. Theres loads of great android apps for teaching kids numbers, alphabet, etc, as well as silly little kiddie games to keep her quiet (Talking Ben / Tom spring to mind immediately!)

Rotating the tab at will is great, as depending on which app I'm using, the interface is much more pleasant in portrait mode (e.g. reading Kindle book with andoird kindle app). Not something you can easily/comfortably do on a laptop.

Loads of different games which you dont get on PC.

Can still remote all my windows machines using either RDP (via pocket cloud), or splashtop (allows multimedia over wireless). With the keyboard dock connected, its then just like using a Win xp/Win 7 laptop, but with a touch screen or mouse to choose from! Im also going to try running games over the link soon, from my gaming machine using splashtop... meaning I have my full quad core i7 and 12GB RAM at my fingertips, and useable from the couch...

Much slimmer (~8mm) and lighter than any of my laptops (<600g w/o dock), to the point where I carry it inside my leather work folder with my paper notepad!

Can get (planning to soon) a frame to strap it to a headrest int he car so the kids can watch movies / peppa pig and keep quiet on long journeys!

V nice built in camera with flash, if I cba getting my SLR out.

Doesnt burn my balls / thighs sitting it on my lap, like all laptops do, especially when theyve been on for a while!

My career is in IT. If I dont keep myself up to date with modern stuff, I wouldnt be a very good techie...

I've always found that controlling pc's using RDP is pretty laggy, but that could also be me as the last time I tried it was on a Wifi-G network so it was limited.

And my laptop doesn't burn my balls. if I'm gaming heavily on it it'll be a nice heater, but GPU/CPU temp would be 70 C max.. maybe 40 on the bottom side of laptop. But I guess that really depends on what laptop you have ;)

Are the apps up to scratch for android tablets then? When I was around them alot say ~3 months ago I found them pretty meh compared to an iPad. Haven't bothered looking in the android market after that (since I don't have a tablet :p)

I find them great. Yes there's alot of dross, but the same goes for the apple store (which now only has about 20% more apps than android market).

I've spent about 20 quid on apps so far in about 6 months, tho most of that was on a couple of more expensive ones like Shadowgun, and pocketcloud. The good thing is, when you buy an app once you can then use it on any device you own, eg phone and tablet at the same time for no extra cost.
