I'm also thinking of buying a S II, but I'm not sure if I should get a Windows Phone, as I kinda like it.

As for battery life, I think you can expect it to last around 2 days, max.

I have a Windows Phone 7 (a HTC Trophy) and its one of the best phones I've ever owned.

Back to the Galaxy I would say that Samsung have the worst track record for updating their phones. Either they either brick phones or wait ages. Battery life all you normally get is about 2 days max on smart phones.

It's Android so thats a plus.

Also all the reviews I've read said it's the best phone out there at the moment and if you look at the specs I would agree.

Apparently Windows phone is spose to be quite good as Gouldy said, someone i know has the Galaxy, its a good phone, but quite cheaply build (backs made of cheap flimsy plastic, but overall pretty much like an iPhone, battery life isnt amazing but thats the same with most phones now.
