One for the IT geeks amongst you.

Is it possible to set up any kind of script which will change my email signature in Outlook 2007 each time Outlook is started?

The reason being that my job title has unofficially changed, so my local office have given me a non-standard job title not used nationally. Each time I start Windows, Outlook defaults to my default signature. I can set up a new signature and select that, but each time I boot up it will revert to the server default. It would be ideal if there was some sort of script which would change it to my non-default choice each morning rather than me having to remember to change it.

Any ideas? I'm guessing not

An easy option may be simply to go into the sig files and modify the default (after backing it up of course!).

In XP you can find them under:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures

In Win 7 / Vista:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures

Hmm I'll have a try tomorrow, but won't this be overridden when I next reboot?

depends if theyre replacing the files ever time you boot, which seems unlikely...

if thats the case then write a batch file to auto copy your version back over ever time you log in...

it looks like the files are replaced on boot.

how would this batch file look? presumably just stick that in startup folder? (if it will let me run batch files)

ok, have written a batch file using XCOPY which copies the sig file fine, but it appears the startup folder is cleared on each boot as well, so I can't put the batch file in there. any ideas on that one?

ok probably just talking to myself now - changed my outlook shortcut to the bat file and added the executable for outlook to the bat file. so now i run the shortcut which copies the new sig and then fires up outlook. simples.
