ok as it nearly that time of yr to pay for our server hosting, i been thinking i wud much rather pay for admin on a bf server than pay for admin on our dedi box,
i no alot of us want a our ranked server, i for one just want a server thats set up so we can have praccy's regulary on it ( as at min i think i used our bf server....ummmm once and with like 5 peeps on it, it lagged and no one had admin abilities)
now the 3 companies i no who rent ranked servers in the uk are rackage ( good servers) 4u servers (are just ok servers) and multiplay ( when not laggy are sh*t hot servers)
now after lookin into 4u and rackage the price is between £160-£170 for 3 months and thats for 32 player... these come with a prog called bfcc which is an admin prog for easy use
so that works out like £55 a month between atleast 5 of us of who i no have said wudnt mind paying,
i no at min we have about 7-10 peeps within sfh playing bf, and with our own server we are guarenteed to recruit more players who will want to prob pay for admin... so if we can have 10 peeps playin and paying it works out at........drum roll please..... yes u guessed it £5 a month
ok so if ur interested in helpin pay for a ranked server please post ur name here, if there is a good enough response im sure me or demon can go about orderin a serve

Ive deleted the poll because it has nothing to do with anything and it appears to have been posted purely to "force" a BF server by saying everyone wants one. Im quite sure EVERYONE would like a BF ranked server, including me, but thats not the issue.
The total quarterly payments from 2142 members come to £61 out of £180-200 (if were lucky), which only just covers the cost of ventrilo and our dedicated server (which is only that cheap because I provide the hardware otherwise for the same spec it would be about £350-400 a quarter). That means that without any other people chipping in, we are left with a choice of either sticking with what we have at the moment, or saying screw everyone, lets get a BF server.
I was talking to Lost Soul the other day about precisely this, he said he fancied chipping in to help with servers costs, I said that was cool because if we can get just a few more people helping out we can afford a BF ranked server.
What we CAN'T do, is afford a 32 man BF server now without at least a few more people chipping in, or everyone paying substantially more every month. I dont think people have an appreciation for how difficult it is to get people to chip in at all, then even more so when the servers time runs out and you have to pay again. Up until the beginning of this year, the only people regularly keeping the clan financially running were gama, womble and I.
Dont get me wrong, I really want a BF ranked server for us too, but realisticly, the only way its going to happen is for more people to put their hands in their pockets. If you can convince more people to pay up and pay on time, im all for it, but until then, were stuck as we are...

Can we have an example of how much it will cost per person? for instance those who subscribe £7 a month how much will this go up by if we got
A. A decent server.
b> A top notch one.
The way things are going at work I am going to be doing a lot of overtime for the forseeable future so I will probably be in a position to increase my subscription soon.

To be honest i guess it would be cool to have a ranked server but i dout we can afford both and as demon said its hardcore to try and get people to chip in

it wud work same as cs only u get alot more people playing bf and wanting admin etc,
we get server, play on it, public players join us, see how good we are, want to join clan, chip in for server...
multiplay ranked 32 man server, ventrillo server £151 for 3 months.

That would mean we would lose our other server because we wouldnt be able to afford both.
I think if we want to get a dedicated ranked server we should put the money in first then when we have enough order the server for 3 months. Then we will see how it goes from there.

that does sounds like a reasonable idea but are people then going to stop paying for the dedicated box the problem is if we split into two groups one who wants the dedicated server and one for the ranked server were both going to end not being able to afford either

set up another payment option so people who want to just pay for bf2142, can . Then when you do have enough , pay for a server.

well i aint fussed about losing the dedi server,all we really use it for is cs, and with that bein majorly on the decline ( we cant even get a team most nites) is there much point in payin for something that we aint gonna use...
end of day its up to the rest of use whether use wanna keep the server, but if i can get enuff people to pay for a ranked bf server im gonna order it, regardless of whether or not we keep the dedicated server,
as i said b4 its £150 for a 32 man server plus ventrilo server... so even if i can get 4 other people thats only £10 a month which most people can easily afford,and i have no probs chippin in more to cover the first payment, till we can set up donations etc
