XP media center is quite cool, the current beta is a bit buggy but I guess the released verion might be a bit more stable. the remote is a cool idea, pitty it does not have mouse functionality. if you have a TV card (digital one as well) it will work with that, or you can just play video mp3's or DVD's. yeah it will play Videos over your network , you only need to add your public network drives.

Scotz has been using Bon's one quite a bit.

ross were using the released version

and it rawks!!

only thing i wish it would do is mount images.

it does however play .vob files :D

erm apart from that adding music to it we just use windows media player cause if you add a drive etc it wont just look for .mp3 or .wma no no it looks for everything that is a sound file in that drive (pain in the arse on a big network)

but yeah i really like it and it is handy

my media centre pc is rockin - got an msi megapc 180. It runs well but ive wirelessly networked it up stairs and when the signal goes poo then it gets a bit laggy. Gonna get a TV card for it so i can use as pivo thingy. Media Center 2005 is what i have but i find its quite buggy and hangs fairly regularly which can get annoying (the media centre bit not the OS). All in all tho im quite happy with it. Particularly like the microsoft remote. V useful... like scots said, shame it has no mouse ball function...

I'm sure i built me PVR waaay before you lot!...
Got me a Cubit case with an mini-atx MB. 1GHz VIA processor with haupauge WinTV 350 card. Wireless with DVD-RW slim-drive and 160GB HDD. IR remote for the card is now in my all-in-one remote with an ATI remote for mouse control.

It rox tbh.

It for my sins it DOES run on Win2Kpro, but i will be getting MC at some point i'm sure.

Pause/Live TV rox ftw. Don't think i'll ever look back now.

i think Curly was prolly doin it first Harv (king bon) as hes a beta tester for media centre :P

Demon i discoverd Media centre was hanging alot aswell i gotta ask if your using an nvidia card??

if you are dont use the latest drives role back to something 6*.* as they are sooo much better it doesnt hang anymore

also i think Ross mentioned the mouse ball function but weve had that discusion before :)

weve got it hard wired as apposed to wireless cause it's simpler for streaming. as soon as i get the rest of my stuff down were hooking the 5.1 system to it.

ours runs dual tv cards so we can record tv while watching something else :)

it's 2005 were runnin.

the only problem just now is simple things like adding folders for music like i said already.

but yeah D if your running nvidia make sure it's not the latest drivers as they really do f**king suck, i was having problems with stuff crashing as it started and freezing the system.

I assume it saves them as M3U playlists?
If so, you can create them your self in notepad. 'tis easy.
Either that or use programs like winamp to do it for you like i do.
