Oh NO! 3D Realms has officially shut down, effectively officially ending the endless hope that Duke Nukem Forever might ever actually come out. Quite aside from killing that dream, it's killed a bigger dream... a mythological hope and belief against all odds... it's like finding out definitively that the Loch Ness monster just doesn't exist. A terrible day for all I think you'll agree...

Beginning to wonder if this is all a cunning ruse to hype the game up again, before actually RELEASING IT!! But I suspect that's too clever. Though there seems to be rumours that Microsoft may have bought it, or are trying to at least... what I saw from the 'leaked' material looked pretty cool, but still pretty rough in comparison to a lot of stuff out today with considerably shorter development times!
I can see it now – the game comes out – reviews all say 'Duke Nukem Forever is an excellent game, but feels rushed'
