Who knows whats happening, with the immenent release of HL2, i hear Won id's are going out the window and steam id will take over, anyone in the know?

i've heard the same. when steam goes live in the very very near future (so were told) then to play CS 1.6 onwards u will have to connect and play via steam. steam will also automattically issue updates when new releases comeout, which is a potential for a virus mass outbreak tbh

As everyone will be connecting via steam not the old WON system then steam will have to issue a newer system for authenticating to make sure your on a valid account. I managed to get my steam account on day 1 (i was one of the lucky ones) but its under my old SFH e-mail addy (altho i tried it again the other day and it still works....)

The plus side is theres no registration fee its all free, and it packages up the HL game system nicely allowing u to play different games easier (like CS, TFC, DoD etc). It also has a mini version of MSN that u can use while on the steam network to talk to ppl u know and i eventually got it working with Xipz and fluffo being added to my list and we were able to talk. as for cs1.6 - hmmmmmmm not played it much but prefered 1.5

Steam and CS 1.6 comes out tomorrow (11th)..

 

steam will be needed to start all games of HL and CS for the new version,  or so they say.

hmmmmm - will change it alot, the addition of the shield and low cost rifles will change clan gaming alot. if u eco the first round and lose second round u can still have rifles and armour etc as well as shields. also cus the buy menu is now totally different all your buy scripts will have to be done and different scripts depending if ur T or CT not just one for all like now.
