There are a few different uses for RSS womble, but the most common is for displaying news feeds. Below is a screeny of my firefox gui.. the row of buttons below my adress bar are ym RSS feeds. They allow me to check the news/headlines from several different sites nice and quickly without having to visit the sites themselves!
Hope that explains it better for you mate.
