ok work has indeed begun on the above named de_greasyrats_sfh (ta demon)

here is the first provisional screenshot of the dining area,


ok it is amazingly basic and the lights are not too good, and some of the textures are missing, sufice to say it is only to prove to womble ( a hard taskmaster) i am doing some work, r_speeds are ok, i had 85 fps going as seen in bottom corner but thats without a lot of objects in the room,

still comments are required and as many of you i am sure have frequented such places, lemme know what i miss out (apart from all the dirt and stains (thats wombles area :P)

lookin good dude, altho, one thing, doesnt it look like more of a de_cat map rather than rat? youre like the size of the chair leg, or is that just me?

very nice start richie m8 , but u did ask for input so here gos,MrAndersons right the chairs need to go up by about 6-8" or so and dont forget the chewing gum stuck under them and the tables lol. Had another idea , i dunno if its possible but i thought it would be good ,as its a scruffy place to incoperate spider webs for ladders in the odd place ? just a idea for u to cogitate over .GO Richie its your birthday

o yus and before i forget you need to bung a curtain pole about a 1/4 of the way up from the bottom of the window with a tatty white/stained curtain texture on it , these are called cafe poles and would make it look more like a cafe. Good aint i ?

aye new knife skin, not new knife, re skinned all my weapons, got bored of looking at the old ones

chair has been improved ie i made it higher,

massive r_speed reductioon of textures taken place, so frame rates should improve, mightneed some testing on the server to be sure

just got to increas number of things in the room then want to test it on server for speeds and scale, and general feedback etc

well it seems the map is buggered at the minute in that it refuses to compile, grrrrr

found out what e and wpoly mean and mine are way too high so back to the old drawing board really, map should come out the same but thatnks to gama it should be playable.

well here is hoping, when i have a bit of luck i will post some more screenies and hopefully have had a little scale test on it

k work is stil progressing, i have got it to comile but in this picture i forgot to add lights to the map so it looks sh*te (the textures look crap),



this piccy is mainly for gama

as you can see i was using gl_wireframe 1 to look for possible areas of reduction, the method wors well, have moved the object 1 pixel away from wall and this should improve that small area, overall i have got the epoly down to about 700 but still have the wpoly up in the 2000's so need a few pointers there mate if you get tine please

more screenies to follow when it compiles with some lights for once

some more piccys now i have it working again












this will be the last for a week or so as i am jetting off to tenerife on friday so wont be able to do as much work as i would like, but then these things take time,.

sorry for most having the wireframe on them , it is pretty damn helpful and i figured out how to see the r_speeds at the same time

ok, greasy spoons tend to be in old shacks / porta cabins. so putting a border/skirt around the edge about 3/4 of the way up that the rats can run around on would improve gameplay and be realistic. walls could use something like a notice board or something with notes and postcards etc on? make it more realistic.

the floors are way to clean tbh :P something like an old newspaper such as the sun or the sport (the types of paper u would find in a place like that) would be a good addition as well as a dropped/lost fork on the floor as well, will also add more cover on the floor to aid game play. any other little things like a styrafome cup or 2, a sweet rapper would also be good additions :) a crack in the middle of the floor leading to the vent in the side could be good as well.

those are just some things off the top of my head but the map looks good, i look forward to testing it out
