i've got a plantronics headset - my mic cable is getting a bit dodgy tho, but its a good set and sounds good. plantronics are a good make for gamers

im just gonna say 1 thing - USE SEPERATES!

You will never ever get the sound quality you want if youre using combo headsets. Use seperate headphones and mic. The mics r then better and have better sound pickups and no noise from you breathin etc, your headset can b as funky and amazin as u like and are willin to spend and the final advantage is that if 1 breaks then the other is still ok...

I wil make no further comments on this subject.

lmao, i paid 2 quid for my headset and headphone combo, the speakers on the headphones cut out after a week

I can hear which way people are coming at me now...
You can't do that with stereo headphones.

i got this mic head set thing, mic and headphones in one, 30 quid from pc world, is good, think the sound pick up on the mic is good, ask fist, and the headphones them selves are V.good

I have 5.1 sound system but i still think headphones are better for games. besides with headphones u can still have the volume up at the same level as normal at 2am without waking everyone else up like you would with speakers.

No way m8 - unless you have them turned up FULL BLAST and there is no other sound in the room you will never EVER beat headphones... also with most stereo headphones you can still hear stuff behind you cos it comes out the headys in a different way...

Ask any pro cs player or whatever and i guarantee they say headys over speakers. If you're rich you can even buy 5.1 surround headphones... hows about that then?!

i always use headphones and a seperate mic altho ma mic has bust and i got a clicky sound in ma ear think i been listenin to sh*t too loud.. gonna give headies a rest fer a while tbh

It works for me dude... All those years of faffing around with headphones were fun (getting used to those 'different' sounds for whats behind me and all that), but try and experience first hand how useful it is to hear footsteps coming from the rear speaker behind you only to turn around and then hear them from the speakers in front of you.
Its gonna be difficult to sway me on this dude. Speakers rule for orientation of sound. 5.1 headphones would rule, but until my boss pays me more, 4 channels of sound are better for 3D games than 2 channels by definition.

i have a full 5.1 system creative 2500 speakers and its still no where near as good as my sexeh sennheiser headphones...

and you should know by now that i am the god of all things pc so i would only ever tell you stuff from experience... i resent the implication that i would do anything otherwise...
