Playing on your server tonight I was sent anonymous private messages accusing me and other fellow players of ghosting.

This annoys me in various ways, as I make no secret of the fact that I work in the same office as two other regular players and we bend over backwards to make people aware of this fact to avoid accusations of ghosting. I make a point of being a polite, clean and fair player on any server I play on and being a senior admin of the trickery gaming community, I am fully aware of the detriment a cheater or dirty player has on a server, as we've seen with the johnny gamespy idiots that have been on the SFH server these last couple of days.

When I asked for any kind of proof to be told "an SFH clan member is proof enough" just smacks of heavy handedness. No idea who the admin was as he hadn't the balls to talk to me direct, but that was poor adminning in the extreme. I apologise for pushing the point on the server, but I do not and never will cheat or play in any unfair manner whatsoever.

I was waiting for this post.

I was talking to you through hlsw rcon - i was not in the server and therefor was not hiding. I'm at work atm and available in IRC for any problems on the server.. which is where i got a complaint from an SFH member that some of the [noob] lads were probably ghosting.

I psay(ed) you a message politely reminding you that ghosting was not allowed on our server - intentionally knowing that you were a nice enough and regular player, as well as a ranking [noob] member so you could relay the message to the other lads.

It was not intended to be confrontational in any way, and was in no way heavy handed.

All that was needed was a simple "no, its ok, we're not", as opposed to your rather indignant response.

I'm sorry that you were offended but do not apologise for responding in a reasonable fashion to a complaint made to me.

Chat logs are available here - starting at 17:30.

Zippy is not and was not banned - he was simply kicked.

Other than that, I consider this topic closed and without need for public debate.

I dont wish to get involved really as it is between you guys, but i know Zippy and quite a few of the noob members (not the ones who falsely put the tag on) and none of them ghost.

I would like to see zippy back on the server tbh, but thats my opinion as he is a very mature (not only in age ) player.

I can quite understand why Zippy got offended at the accusation: it's all a matter of language:

is not a polite message reminding one that ghosting is not allowed: it is an implicit accusation of guilt.

Now I know that this was not the intention but that's the way it scans. You used more polite language to "NooB***cp mus" whome you banned for suspected cheating.

As for Zippy asking for evidence, well what would anyone else do in the same situation? If he just said "OK" then that would be an admission of guilt. Out of interest what evidence did the SFH clan member provide?

I know Zip, Jag, Deaf & Slash personally (I used to work in the same office) and they simply don't ghost (or cheat in anyway). They are all over the hill (ahem) I mean past a certain age where you realise that cheating is ultimately pointless. They may be ugly f**kers and may lose their rag from time to time but they are all honest gamers.

Anyway, I don't want to stir up any muddy waters: I play on your server FOC after all (and I + other n00bs/trickery outcasts appreciate that). But I can't sit back while friends of mine are maligned.

how can you actually proove someones ghosting, it's a case of judgement, and then trusting clan mates.

we dont want a someones life history in these threads...other clan mates comin on pleading innocence... these threads r for the guilty party(if they guilty) and the admin...

fraggles good ol' amx bind comes to mind.... "admins r quick to anger, but quicker to ban" ... and u are makin them angry by postin in here(or in other threads for that matter)
