OK not sure wot ive done but I have f**ked up my new PC so ive gone out and bought a new 120gb hdd now I want to partition it 20gb for O/S 40gb Games etc 60gb storage vids music etc..

ive installed hdd put on xp proff. wot is the advise on wot protection to go with it!!

I have a copy of norton internet security 2005 with anti virus, on disk adaware spy ware detector, system utilities (thingy that comes with mother board).

Anything else i'll need.... and does this all go on same partition as o/s?????

norton internet security is bollox. only install the av part unless you dont have a hardware firewall on our modem/router? yes you can install on same partition as os. adaware is also v good, try to run it at least once a month on your machine to clear out nasties...

I only use norton antivirus, I have the others too, but I disabled them.. I use lavsoft's adaware and zonealarm pro as a firewall, I think you can get a free zonealarm too..

if you have a hardware router for your inet connection then it has a firewall built in. norton is fine for AV.

norton is good for AV so is AVG 6,

as for fire walls hardware router ones are best, and I would avoid ZoneAlarm like the plage.

no harm in it mate. Will allow you to set alarms for over heating etc - but not absolutely essential. Word on the street is that harv has a spanking new PC as well.

I had nothing but troubles with zone alarm when I was working for telewest, plus I have not heard of many happy users.
