na he isnt a bastard but you wouldnt want to fall out with him hence the "Hard" bit in the title , recommend the books by Kate Kray , very informative , the one thing you get from most if not all of the guys in there is that they dont concider themselves to be "hard" but its very obvious thats exactly what they r . Plus they all hate bullies.
